A roofing contractor is just someone who works with roofs. He or she might be someone who just repairs roofs on houses, or he or she might also be capable of installing new roofs as well, but that’s the end of what he does. Roofing contractors almost always work as team-members for larger roofing contractors. A large contracting company would probably have hundreds or even thousands of roofing contractors working under them. The contractor who has the largest contract usually gets the largest percentage of the entire project. If you would like to learn more about this, please check out Gaithersburg Roofing Association
The job of the roofing contractors is to do what the larger contracting company does – make sure that the roof is intact and doing its job, but the smaller roofing company will be responsible for doing the “fun” stuff – replacing shingles, making sure valleys are level and so on. As the work on the roof is completed, the smaller roofing company will need to come in and finish what the contractor started. This can mean mending roof leakages, putting on new shingles (if needed), replacing damaged shingles, and so on.
So how do you find a good roofer? Well, it’s best if you get recommendations from friends and family and from people you know who’ve had experience with certain contractors in your area. Talk to some roofers around your neighborhood. Ask them for names of contractors they’ve worked for, and also ask for referrals from those contractors. If you can find one or two names of roofers that you trust, call each one and ask them about their experiences with the roofers that they recommend.
