I was diagnosed with "ADD" in 1996. I have been the
facilitator for the "Iowa City Adult ADD Support Group" since 1997. I have read extensively on ADD/ADHD since then and have made 46 referrals to Psychologist and Psychiatrist for Adults and children to be diagnosed for ADD. I have recently started a support group in Cedar Rapids. I have recently been named to the ADDA Professional Advisory Board
My background is as follows:
- 17 years as Deputy Sheriff in Johnson County, the last three serving as
Lieutenant in charge of the jail.
- 5 years with the Department of Correctional Services in the 6th District of Iowa as Probation/Parole Officer
- 6 years in the Transportation/Logistics field
- Graduate of the University of Iowa
In all of my positions, I have had to deal with people who were under great
stress or in crises of some type. Taking these negative situations and utilizing
an empathetic, yet firm approach has given me invaluable experience in dealing
with people from all social and economic backgrounds and improving their quality
of life. These experiences have always been my greatest reward. I have a passion
for helping those with ADD.
